Climate of the Land
The lands on the Mediterranean coast have a climate which is midway between temperate and tropical. The winters are wet, like those of northern countries. The summers are hot and dry, influenced by the tropical deserts that lie beyond the sea's southern rim. Thanks to this seasonal contrast, snow will lie on the coastal mountains but tropical fruits will ripen in the plain.
The climate varies a good deal in the different areas of the Middle East. But there are a few general factors.
